Lacksmith FAQ
Hi friends! A lovely Lacksmith fan asked some really great questions for rules clarification, and I thought it might be a good idea to share them as the beginnings of an FAQ. I'll be updating/editing this if more roll in.
Q: I draw 3 cards on my turn and pick one. Do I discard the other two?
A: Yes! You discard the other two cards you don't choose for your project card.
Q: Masterwork items -- what value do I apply for the +/-? Do I decide where to apply the +/- from a Masterwork Item?
A: Masterwork items apply a once-per-roll +/-1 to any die of your choosing. You cannot change which die once one has been selected, and I recommend physically altering the roll to indicate what it has been changed to.
Q: What does "wrap around" mean?
A: "Wrap around" typically refers to the fact that a 1 could be -1 to make it a 6, as if the numbers were arranged in a circle. 1 is adjacent to 6 and vice versa.
Q: How do I create a Masterwork Item?
A: You must roll the range max or minimum for high range and low range respectfully. E.g. for a high range roll, you will need a 12, low range a 2, and mid a 7 (note: the 7 is consistent for all midrange rolls so this will effectively be no different than a normal mid-range roll.)
Q: If I already have 3 projects shelved and I can't complete a 4th, do I just discard and move on to the next day?
A: If your shelf is full when you would add an active project to it, you would simply discard the failed project or discard one of the shelved projects to replace with the active project.
Q: When I complete a project, I take the number value on that card and subtract it from a card on my client list? E.g. if I have a 7 as a client, and I complete 2 projects totaling 2 & 5, I can use those to satisfy that client?
A: Yep! You nailed it! Most often you'll be applying project cards that meet or exceed the client numbers, but occasionally you'll find yourself in a position where you need multiple projects to fulfill a client. In your example, the 2 project and the 5 project can, over the span of 2 turns, fulfill a 7 client!
